Become competent with a compass

The uses of a Silva-type compass will be explained.  You will then have the opportunity to put your newly acquired knowledge into practice on a 3 to 4 mile moorland walk, under the friendly supervision of a Countryside Volunteer. Please note that previous attendance at a walkers’ map-reading course is essential as such knowledge will be required. Such a course will be included in the next programme.  A packed lunch and walking gear will be needed. For further information please telephone 01484 423944.

Attenders should be over 16.  Booking is essential and a deposit of £5 per person is requested to secure your place. This will be refunded when you attend. Payment must be received at least one week before the course.  Cheques should be made payable to Kirklees Countryside Volunteers and sent to KCV, 101 Greenhead Road, Huddersfield HD1 4EZ.  Please enclose a stamped, addressed envelope for details.
